Alexander Rodriguez Betancourt is a certified prosthetist orthotist and the manager of the Pediatric Orthotic and Prosthetic Services department at Shriners Hospitals for Children in Erie, Pennsylvania. From 2013 to 2017, he served as a certified prosthetist orthotist at Hanger Clinic in the Bronx, New York. Betancourt has volunteered to be on the SHRS Prosthetics and Orthotics Advisory Board. In this role, he has offered his services to prosthetics and orthotics students as a clinical and residency mentor.
Since 2016, Betancourt has been an active volunteer with Project Perfect World, an organization providing health care to children in Guayaquil, Ecuador. He uses his expertise to provide many deserving children with much needed prosthetic and orthotic care. He also trains hospital staff and fellow clinicians in these underserved areas so they are able to provide needed care year-round.
